Labour MEPs will fight to protect your major employment rights, including a minimum four weeks’ paid holiday; a right to parental leave; extended maternity leave; a new right to request flexible working; and the same protection for part-time workers as full-time workers.
We helped introduce sensible measures at an EU level that protect the rights of British workers. These are measures to which we are committed and which we will fight to protect. We want a Europe where every worker is protected in law, wherever they’re from, wherever they work.
Labour MEPs understand a modern economy must be anchored on rights for workers to fair treatment. Britain cannot compete with the rest of the world in a race to the bottom on low wages and poor working conditions, and that is why Labour MEPs will continue our campaign against calls to roll back protections for working people guaranteed at EU level.
Labour MEPs oppose the abuse of zero-hour contracts - we will fight to stamp down on abuse of these contracts to exploit workers and avoid paying fair wages. We will also tackle employers who exploit workers from other countries to undercut wages by reforming the posted workers directive and closing loopholes in the agency workers directive.
