Labour’s Leader in the European Parliament today called on wavering Tory MPs to put “country before career, patriotism before party, and Britain before a bad Brexit” in this week’s key votes in Westminster on the EU withdrawal bill.
Richard Corbett MEP said:
“There are less than three weeks until the milestone European Council meeting, but no sign that the British government will be ready to negotiate on Brexit.
“Two years after the referendum, it does not even have a starting position for the talks on such a vital question as what kind of customs arrangements we need for the future. It has just announced that a White Paper setting out its vision for the future will be ready only after the European Council meeting.
“And yesterday, Theresa May was forced to plead at a meeting with her own MPs, imploring them not to vote against her in key votes today and tomorrow.
“Well, I for one hope that there will be Conservative MPs who put country before career, patriotism before party, and Britain before a bad Brexit.”
