Catherine Stihler was elected as the youngest British MEP in 1999. She has proved herself a strong and committed campaigner for Scotland and has always stood up for Labour in Europe. She has continually campaigned for more money for economic development in Scotland.
Always known as a hard worker, Catherine asked 238 Parliamentary questions, submitted four motions for resolution, given 130 speeches, authored two reports and proposed five written declarations in the last Parliament alone.
Catherine is a member of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee and spearheaded the campaign to have bolder anti-smoking images on cigarette packets and and has launched a high-profile campaign on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
In addition, her special interests include fighting for social justice, public health issues and promoting Scotland’s internationalism.
