Catherine Stihler was elected as the youngest British MEP in 1999. She has proved herself a strong and committed campaigner for Scotland and has always stood up for Labour in Europe. She has continually campaigned for more money for economic development in Scotland.
Always known as a hard worker, Catherine asked 238 Parliamentary questions, submitted four motions for resolution, given 130 speeches, authored two reports and proposed five written declarations in the last Parliament alone.
Catherine is a member of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee and spearheaded the campaign to have bolder anti-smoking images on cigarette packets and and has launched a high-profile campaign on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Catherine is also the current editor of the The Parliament Magazine.
In addition, her special interests include fighting for social justice, public health issues and promoting Scotland’s internationalism.
